Starting in fall 2019, I worked as a server at a special little cafe in Somerville, MA called Juliet until I was laid off in April 2020 due to the pandemic. I spent that May designing the winter 2020 issue of Juliet's magazine, of Juliet. Before the pandemic, I had wanted to join the creative arm of Juliet and participate in designing one of their publications. Being creative during the early days of the pandemic was challenging but at the same time lifesaving. I created a collage of found materials and magazine clippings for the cover, and designed the interior using a sophisticated, serious style. This issue encapsulates those first uncertain days and the hope we clung to even in the face of great unknown. My essay, "Grief, Quarantined," was published in this issue.
